POLICY
PARTICIPATION
The Kerala Strikers INC Cricket Club (KSICC) is committed to ensuring that all players get the most out of their cricketing experience. We wish it to be enjoyable and rewarding. We want to ensure the environment is encouraging, positive, and safe—for players, parents, and supporters. Coaches will strive to give all players every opportunity to learn the game, improve their skills, and contribute meaningfully to the team’s performance on match day. This will apply especially in the younger grades, where there will be a clear intent to give everyone an equal opportunity. As players move into the older grades, especially junior grades, coaches will look to prepare them for more competitive senior-grade cricket.
The Club will endeavor to do everything in its power to ensure the junior section is a safe, healthy, enjoyable, and competitive environment where players can improve both their cricketing and life skills. It is hoped that juniors will go on to become accomplished contributors to the rich history and traditions of KSICC.
All parents/guardians, players, and coaches are expected to read and abide by the codes of conduct of KSICC.
Team structure and participation will be at the discretion of the coach once teams are formalized via the selection and team formation process noted below.
The annual registration process will only be through Playhq for each season and will open each registration period. Registration fees for junior and senior players through Playhq must be paid as per the rules and timelines outlined on the portal.
The Club recognizes that it has an obligation to give all players a fair go during matches and training. Skills will be developed through attendance at regular practice sessions and at special clinics run by senior players throughout the season.
KSICC understands that junior players develop skills at different rates, and it is therefore our priority to nurture them from match to match and through training so that they can optimize their own potential.
The Club requires all junior cricketers to wear helmets during matches while batting or wicketkeeping. They must also wear helmets while batting in the nets.
KSICC is a SunSmart club; therefore, hats and sunscreen are to be worn in the field during matches and training.
KSICC is a member of the Good Sports Program and has achieved the highest possible accreditation: Level GOLD.
Players are to wear the appropriate KSICC playing shirts on match days.
Players are expected to arrive at their grounds 30 minutes prior to the start time to warm up and prepare before the game.
Parents will be expected to umpire and score at least once during a season.
KSICC will issue a schedule of games and a calendar of social events as soon as they are available each season. Attendance at social events is encouraged.
If at any time you have an issue with the treatment of your child, please seek the advice of your coach or any of the officials listed on our club website so that the matter can be resolved quickly. It is against KSICC policy to post issues on social media or discuss official matters with people other than club officials, coaches, administrators, and designated team coordinators. Breaches of this policy may result in penalties, including suspension of the player, parent, or guardian. Everyone is required to read and abide by all the above.
AWARDS
Each year, player awards will be decided by authorized club representatives and distributed at an end-of-season social event. Awards may be based on performance, participation, attitude, and appreciation.
In addition to performance awards, the club may decide to present other awards, such as recognition for participation or age group contributions. Every player and parent is expected to accept the outcome of the decision, even if it differs from their expectations.
The club does not tolerate any miscommunication, social media posts, or threats directed at officials regarding award decisions. Players and parents must read and abide by this awards policy.
*COACHES’ CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
The environment created by a coach is integral to the overall experience of all players. These expectations are foundational but not exhaustive:
Remember that many players participate for enjoyment, and winning is only part of the fun.
Never ridicule or yell at a player, particularly young players, for making a mistake or not coming first.
Be reasonable in your demands on players’ time, energy, and enthusiasm.
Operate within the rules and the Spirit of Cricket, and teach your players to do the same.
Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience.
Avoid overplaying talented players—all young players deserve equal time, attention, and opportunities.
Ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players.
Display control and respect to all involved in cricket, including opponents, coaches, umpires, administrators, parents, and spectators, and encourage your players to do the same.
Show concern and caution toward sick and injured players. Follow the advice of a physician when determining whether an injured player is ready to return.
Obtain appropriate qualifications and keep up to date with the latest cricket coaching practices and principles of youth development.
Any physical contact with a young person should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for skill development.
Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every person regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, or religion.
PARENTS’ CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
Parents play a vital role as role models within our cricket community. Please keep in mind:
Do not force an unwilling child to participate in cricket.
Remember, children are involved in cricket for their enjoyment, not yours.
Encourage your child to play by the rules.
Focus on effort and performance rather than winning or losing.
Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
Children learn best by example—appreciate good performances and skillful play by all participants.
Support efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sport.
Respect officials’ decisions and teach children to do the same.
Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials, and administrators—without them, participation would not be possible.
Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every person regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, or religion.
PLAYERS’ CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
Players must uphold the integrity of the game on and off the field:
Play by the rules.
Never argue with an umpire. If you disagree, have your captain, coach, or manager approach the umpire in an appropriate manner during a break or after the game.
Control your temper. Verbal abuse, sledging, and deliberate distraction or provocation are not acceptable.
Work hard for yourself and your team.
Be a good sport. Applaud good play by your team and the opposition.
Treat all participants as you would like to be treated.
Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
Cooperate with your coach, teammates, and opponents.
Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please others.
Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every person regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, or religion.

SPIRIT OF CRICKET
Australians are justifiably proud of the role sport plays in daily life. Equally important is how the game is played and how all participants conduct themselves.
Fair Play
Umpires are the sole judges of fair and unfair play and may intervene at any time.
Captains and coaches are always responsible for ensuring that play is conducted within the spirit and laws of the game.
Umpires may report misconduct to the captain or coach, who must take appropriate action.
Umpires may intervene in cases of:
Time wasting
Damaging the pitch
Dangerous or unfair bowling
Ball tampering
Any action they consider unfair
Respect
The spirit of the game involves respect for:
Your opponents
Your captain, coach, and teammates
Umpires’ roles
The traditions of cricket
Against the spirit:
It is against the spirit to:
Dispute umpires’ decisions
Use abusive language
Cheat (e.g., appealing when knowing the batter is not out, advancing aggressively toward umpires, distracting opponents verbally or by noise)
